Stop. Start. Victory.

“The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work.” ~ Oprah

Do you have a “chief aim,” desire, goal or dream? Something you truly, to the point of obsession, are going for in your life?

I hope so, cause there’s nothing like it. And I’m talking about big stuff and little bitty stuff too.

What is it that you are hankering for?

I’d like to help you get it, so try this out!

Take a little time to fully, down the tiniest little detail, visualize and imagine how you will experience having whatever it is that you are going for. How will it feel? Smell? What will it look like and what kind of texture will it have?

Now consider this – How will you feel when you get it?

Come on and do this. Close your eyes and go there for whatever it is that you want to have. Trust me, it doesn’t matter what it is!

It could be a different job, more money, to lose the weight, to find a loving life partner or get the new patio set!

You name it, but whatever it is, allow yourself to fully immerse in the imagined experience of having it.

Then, and this is really important, talk to yourself about who you get to be when you get what it is that you want.

How does that feel? Do you like that version of you?

If you do, then I encourage you to ask two very important questions and take your time getting to your answers:

  1. What do you need to STOP doing that you are currently doing in service of getting what it is that you want and getting to be that version of yourself that you really like? (when you are open and honest, this answer will come to you)
  1. What do you need to START doing that you are not currently doing in service of getting what it is that you want and getting to be that version of yourself that you really like? (again, when you are open and honest, this answer will come to you too)

Once you know some of what you need to stop and start doing, make a list of “what to do” and “what not to do” and commit yourself to those things. All you have to do is do your best.

It is entirely possible you’ll find out it’s not all that easy to stop doing the things you’ve said you need to stop doing. Likewise, it is possible that you’ll find it challenging to start doing the things you need to start doing. THAT IS OK, it really is.

Oh I know you might tell yourself you’d rather it be easy to get what you want…

But I truly wonder about that.

Because when you bump up against a barrier or challenge to what you want, you get an opportunity to assess how much you REALLY want what you say you want. And at the risk of sounding like a broken record, nothing is as important as knowing what you really want!

I won’t argue that things that are easy to have are nice. But they don’t offer you the same feelings of fullness and abundance that the harder things you REALLY want offer when you get them.

When it’s hard as the dickens to have what you really want, but you find a way to dig deep and do the “hard stuff,” you get an entirely different feeling and energy for your life. The kind of feeling and energy that wakes you up and allows you to see yourself in a bright, clear light. (Welcome home !)

It feels awesome to persevere and not give up on your desires, goals and dreams. When you do the work to identify what you are really after, you can tap into the power from within yourself to have it. Yes. You can.

You are the only one who can give yourself that kind of victory.

And one victory like that leads to another.

Carry on.
