5 Tips For A Better Life

I have noticed that when I do the five things I’ve listed below, I have a really great day. And when I string several days together doing these things…my life blows me away. I offer them to you…but with a warning: doing these things might just blow you away. There, you’ve been warned!

Tip #1 Act like a dog…

When dogs play that is all they are doing. They are playing with all their might. When dogs sleep that is all they are doing. They sleep with all their might. When dogs love on you that is all they are doing. They love with all their might. So, whatever it is that you are doing let that be all you are doing and do it with all your might!

Tip # 2 Stop comparing yourself to others…

It is so tempting to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to other people, but we really need to stop this madness! In my experience there are only two possible outcomes of such comparison; either a feeling of inferiority or a feeling of smug superiority, neither of which will move us any closer to our very best life. When we take the time to look at ourselves in comparison to what we think we know about other people’s lives, we are wasting our precious time and we are not minding our own business. Stop comparing and instead, spend your time becoming the best possible version of you!

Tip #3 Act like a cat…

Cats are wonderful teachers. They sit and calmly take in everything going on around them, without jumping in until they are good and ready. And sometimes they don’t ever get good and ready so they don’t choose to jump in at all. How about this? Before you jump into things, reserve the right to be cat-like and do it only when you are good and ready. And remember, you have the right to not jump in at all. But if you do choose to jump in, go ahead, act like a dog and jump in with all your might!

Tip #4 Treat others as you want to be treated…

I hope you will let those words wash over you. Really feel them. How would this change our world? Let’s be part of finding out! Treat others as you want to be treated. Really.

Tip #5 Cut out the negatives and complaints…

When we entertain negative thoughts and speak negative words we create negative lives. When we complain about things, we shut down our ability to be grateful for what we have. Try this…replace your negative comments and complaints with silence, and in that silence allow yourself to notice all that you have to be grateful for! A grateful heart has no room for negativity or complaints, it’s just too full.

Here’s to your best life!
